Our beloved Michael "Chappie" Grice's health has declined. In recognition of his remarkable service and lasting contributions, Director Michelle DePass will deliver a proclamation in his honor at the upcoming board meeting on Tuesday, September 9th.
We invite you to join us in person at the Dr. Matthew Prophet Education Center, 501 N. Dixon St., Portland, OR. The board meeting will begin at 6:00 pm. We encourage guests to arrive by 6:30 pm. The boardroom will be packed because PPS Will also be announcing the location of the Center for Black Student Excellence right after the proclamation.
Please help us spread the word. This is a special opportunity for our community to come together and let Michael know how deeply he is valued and appreciated. We hope you can be there to celebrate Chappie with us. Michael will be attending virtually.
At this time, Michael will not be receiving visitors, but he welcomes messages via email. If you would like to send him your thoughts, memories, or well wishes, please do so by email to WAFI and we will forward them.
